SLJ Badges 2024

Here are the badges I have earned from Summer Learning Journey 2024-25  Tasks.  If you click on the badge it will take you to the blog post I did to get the badge.  The triple dip badges are for doing 3 of that weeks activities. I have learnt lots of new stuff on my chrome book and really enjoyed doing the activity’s.  I did have to get some help from my big brother on how to do things like animations and mum helped me with the blurb for my blogs by checking it made sense and corrected the spelling.

I am really proud of myself for giving SLJ a go as I have not done a lot of chrome book work at school as I am only year 3. I have managed to complete ALL of the activities that were posted (other than a few Te Reo Maori ones that I was not able to translate – but I gave the ones I could translate with family help a go).  I am even more proud because one of my posts even got shared on the out standing blog post that is put up every Saturday.

I CANT WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR TO TAKE PART AGAIN

SLJ Submarine Fun – Step It Up

Bob the Diving Turtle

For today’s Step It Up activity I was to create a cartesian diver in a bottle.  I was not able to watch the videos so I looked up my own.  I decided to add a little turtle to my pen top to make a diving turtle.   I really loved doing this activity.  Here is my turtle diving video. (please ignore my mum’s arm I found it hard to squeeze the bottle so she helped me)  the turtle sinks and floats because of the air bubble in the pen top and the density of the water.  when I squeeze is cause it to sink as the air is pushed up.  when I release the bottle it makes the pen lid to float.  I managed to make him bob up and down by changing the pressure when I squeezed.

SLJ Beluga Whales – Step It Up

I used what I had learnt about Beluga whales and narwhals to create these two creature cards about them.

In a showdown a narwhal’s tusk may provide an advantage allowing it to defend itself better but they are not known to use it for this as far as we know.  A belugas strong social skills could offer strategic advantage.
I think the Narwhal wins in an Antarctic showdown because it is so mysterious.
