Today I did Legs legs legs? kick start activity.  I learnt about an elephant who only has 3 legs called Mosha and She has a prosthetic leg so she can walk around like a normal elephant.

The task was to design her a new leg.   I decided to make it different colours with black back ground and put simple shapes on it.  Here is my Prosthetic leg for Mosha.

  1. Kia ora, Alex! It is fantastic to see your contribution to the Summer Learning Journey from Ohaeawai Primary School.

Your design for Mosha the elephant’s prosthetic leg is incredibly bold and full of positive energy. The use of green smiley faces at the top makes the design look very friendly and happy. Adding the red hearts shows a lot of care for Mosha’s story. As your fellow learner Riah mentioned, Mosha lost her leg when she was just seven months old, so it is lovely to see a design that looks so supportive and kind. That yellow lightning bolt at the bottom is a brilliant touch! It makes the prosthetic look like it gives Mosha super speed or extra energy.

Did you know? Mosha was the first elephant in the world to receive a functional prosthetic leg! Because she is still growing and weighs several tons, her doctors at the Friends of the Asian Elephant Hospital have to design and build her a brand-new leg every single year to keep her spine straight.

Your choice of symbols, smilies, hearts, and lightning, makes your design stand out as both energetic and compassionate.

Fantastic work, Alex! I look forward to seeing more of your creative inventions.

    Ngā mihi,
    Zana

  2. Great work Alex

Love how you told us about the why you created this version of a prosthetic leg. You have got a very creative design.

I wonder how it attaches to Mosha and how it stays on?

    Keep up the great blogging
